Nutritional Psychiatry & Complementary Alternative Treatments

What we eat influences our emotions. Nutritional psychiatry uses nutritional approaches and supplementation to optimize mental wellness. It is used in prevention and reduction of psychiatric conditions. Exiting areas of research reveal the connections between gut health (the microbiome), brain health, and inflammation. Nutrition is essential for adaptive neuroplasticity. Allyson's approach is to learn more about your relationship to food and how to incorporate nourishing foods and sometimes supplements into your life based on simple and actionable steps. She considers your budget and lifestyle and strives to make healthy food enjoyable!

Referrals & Collaboration

Further, she'll provide local community resources for additional support.

Testing

Genetic Testing

Certain variations in our genes can affect how break down and metabolize medications. Allyson offers pharmacogenetic testing that analyzes these variations in our DNA and allows us to make informed decisions about prescribing certain psychiatric medications.

Neurocognitive Testing

Neurocognition refers to our higher brain functions including the ability to think, learn, concentrate, remember, and decide. Mental health disorders can affect neurocognitive functioning. Utilizing computerized CNS VS Signs testing provides objective, valid, and reliable clinical data from a broad-spectrum of brain domains and is used to aid in the measurement and tracking of a patient's neurocognitive status as part of the evaluation, management, and treatment process. It is backed by thousands of peer-reviewed independent research. Neurocognition is an important biomarker for many conditions including poor sleep, ADHD, dementia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, traumatic brain injuries, and dementia.
